Objective:
- This SOP outlines the end-to-end process for producing a print magazine, covering project kickoff, theme finalization, layout design, and content placement. It includes standards for CMYK color use, ad dimensions, and 4K image quality. The workflow ensures consistent design, visual quality, internal reviews, print sampling, and final approval. All assets are archived in a centralized drive for backup and future reference.

1.1. Define Magazine Theme & Sections
- Collaborate with editorial and marketing teams to finalize the edition’s theme (e.g. CEO Edition, Marketing Special, Tech Trends, etc.).
- Confirm regular sections like:
- Cover Page
- CEO's Note
- Editor’s Note
- Interview/Q&A Sections (e.g. CEO, CMO, Founder interviews)
- Feature Focus
- Campaign Chronicles
- Product Features
- Global Highlights
- Global Highlights
- Any custom section required for the specific edition
Design Template Creation
2.1. Cover Page Design:
- Design a visually compelling cover aligned with the theme.
- Include edition title, main feature highlight, and visual elements (to be updated once final image/content is received).
2.2. Index Page:
- Create a clean, easy-to-navigate index layout listing all key sections and page numbers (updated once content is finalized).
2.3. Inside Page Layouts:
- Design consistent yet varied templates for:
- CEO’s Note
- Editor’s Note
- Interviews (with space for high-res photos, name/title, and styled Q&A blocks)
- Feature articles
- Campaign/product sections
- Image-based layouts (if visual storytelling is needed)
- Use clear hierarchy (headings, subheadings, pull quotes, body text, etc.).
- Plan for content-heavy and content-light layouts accordingly.
2.4. Back Cover Design:
- Design for branding or promotional space (ads, sponsors, or magazine branding).
2.5. Page Numbering & Grids:
- Establish a master grid and consistent typography hierarchy.
- Add placeholder page numbers for all pages
Content & Visual Placement
3.1. Receive Content & Images:
- Collaborate with the editorial team for finalized content.
- Collect high-resolution images of interviewees, logos, product shots, etc.
3.2. Place & Style Content:
- Insert content into pre-designed templates.
- Ensure proper alignment, image quality, and visual consistency.
- Apply formatting, branding, and any visual storytelling elements.
3.3. Add Visual Enhancements:
- Use icons, infographics, pull quotes, section headers, dividers, and color blocks to enrich the magazine visually.
Review & Revisions
4.1. Internal Review:
- Share soft proof with (Team & Manager).
- Ask feedback on content alignment, design, typos, formatting, etc.
4.2. Final Revision Round:
- Make final edits and ensure everything matches brand and content guidelines.
Sample Print & Approval
5.1. Export for Print:
- Export in high-res CMYK PDF with correct bleed and margins.
- Double-check page numbers, image clarity, and color calibration.
5.2. Sample Print (8 Days Prior):
- Share files with print vendor for a physical sample.
- Review print quality, alignment, color reproduction, and binding
5.3. Final Approval:
- Approval or changes if required..
- Lock the final file for bulk printing.
Final Print & Archival
6.1. Final Print Dispatch
- Send the final approved file to the print vendor.
6.2. Archive Files
- Save and archive:
- Final print-ready PDF
- Editable design files (Illustrator, PSD, etc.)
